Learning to follow

Simple Life Church is simple by design.  The simplicity of our church enables time and resources to be spent well.  We are free to focus on areas like discipleship. We desire that all people are properly discipled so that they may play their part in the growth of the body of Christ.

We begin by asking every member of Simple Life Church to go through a seven week training to learn the foundations of what it means to be a follower of Christ. This Basic Training teaches us how to begin and continue on a fruitful path as God shapes us and uses us for His Kingdom.

We encourage ongoing discipleship by teaching that we are to be disciples that make disciples. Every member is encouraged to be involved in discipleship.

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." Matthew 16:24

Testimony: Learning to Follow

I spent almost 40 years spiritually weak but after changing to this style meeting, my life changed.   I was plagued with periodic doubts about my salvation.  I hated that although I could regurgitate Scripture from memory, I lacked the confidence that others had.  My busyness and works in ministry kept me numb to my fears but when things would settle down, the doubts would torment me.

What I found was that in this style meeting, the distractions were gone.  I couldn't hide any longer and the deep love and edification by the believers in this environment pushed me to healing.  I faced my spiritual weakness and the Lord placed me where I diligently sought Him in brokenness.  After 40 years of wandering, GOD HEALED ME!  In a matter of moments during a time of prayer, God did what my 40 years of desperately trying to fix myself could not do.  Through His Scripture, He healed my doubt and laid the foundation for multiple other areas of healing.

I still have a long way to go on this pilgrimage, but it was the small meetings and our family's desire to do what the Bible said that gave me my start.  Of course, not everyone needs to meet like we do in order to see God move in their lives, but God allowed me to see the value of laying aside the burden of busyness and simply looking only to His Word for answers.  - P.S.
