Focused Resources

At Simple Life Church, we have tried hard to keep our financial matters clear and simple. While the percentages mentioned below might change over time, the goal is to honor the following verses as we give as unto the Lord.

Helping Missionaries:

Romans 15:24 --- I hope to see you in passing as I go to Spain, and to be helped on my journey there by you, once I have enjoyed your company for a while.

Philippians 4:16-18 --- Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.

Honoring Elders:

1 Timothy 5:17 --- Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching.

*If there was a double honor especially for those elders who labored in preaching and teaching, there also must have been an honor for all the elders.

*The point is not that an elder is made wealthy by the gift, but that the elders are honored by those they serve and shepherd.

Caring for Others:

Philippians 2:4 --- Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

1 Timothy 6:17-18 --- As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share.

Galatians 6:10 --- So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Galatians 2:10 --- Only, they asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.

Giving with Joy:

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 --- The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.  Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

  • 50% - regular offerings to missions

We allocate 50% of all regular offerings to missions. A portion of these funds go directly to the Southern Baptist Cooperative Programs to fund other church planters and missions efforts in the United States and around the world. Another portion is to be used as the the Lord directs our church body to reach out to our local community.

  • 30% - regular offerings to elder support

In 1st Timothy, Paul tells the believers that the elders that lead well are worthy of double honor, especially those that labor in preaching and teaching. We set aside 30% of our regular offerings to be a blessing to those men who dedicate their time for others in this way. This financial gift to the elders isn't intended to fully support them, therefore no elder is "full time". The point is to honor them and say, "we recognize your commitment to shepherding God's family, and honor you in this hard work."

  • 20% - regular offerings to general expenses

Because we have no buildings or overhead, Simple Life Church only allocates 20% of our regular offering to help with general operating expenses for our churches. If all of these resources are not needed, these funds can be rolled into either missions or honoring of the elders. The point is to have some funds available for miscellaneous needs that might arise that are not related to the other categories.
